Gursharan Sahota was born in 1960 in Kenya, East Africa, but has lived in England, since he was 12.
He took up karate at the age of 14 and was awarded Black Belt 1st Dan (Shodan) four years later.
Now an 8th Dan, Gursharan has competed in a multitude of Kata and Kumite events, many at national level. The most significant event in his career however was the visit he made to Japan in 1984 when he fulfilled a great ambition by training in a Japanese Dojo under the instruction of Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa.
This experience proved a turning point for Gursharan. On his return to England, he realised the trip had been the inspiration he needed to dedicate his future to training and teaching karate as a way of life.

Our clubs have members with a wide mix of abilities, from beginner to 4th Dan black belt from a broad range of professional and social backgrounds. Children are increasingly attracted to karate and the club has students as young as five. Our members include families who have trained together for many years from beginner through to black belt.
In addition to our normal training regime of Kihon, Kata and Kumite, St Albans and Potters Bar karate students participate in association gradings, courses and competitions throughout the year. Competitions are designed for all skill levels and ages and provide an opportunity for St Albans and Potters Bar students to demonstrate their skills in a competitive environment.
